Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

Colossians 3:16 (NIV)
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

Throughout history, God’s people have listened to, memorized, digested, and meditated on His Word through music

Verse 1
It’s falling from the clouds, a strange and lovely sound
I hear it in the thunder and rain
It’s ringing in the skies, like cannons in the night
The music of the universe plays

You are holy, great and mighty

The moon and the stars declare who You are
I’m so unworthy, but still You love me
Forever my heart will sing of how great You are

Verse 2
Beautiful and free, the song of galaxies
Reaching far beyond the Milky Way
Let’s join in with the sound, come on let’s sing it out
As the music of the universe plays

All glory, honor, power is Yours, amen
All glory, honor, power is Yours, amen
All glory, honor, power is Yours forever, amen

When we lift our voices in worship, we are joining in the worship that is already going on…

…in nature:
Psalm 19:1-4b

…in heaven:
Isaiah 6:1-3

Revelation 4:1-11

God is worthy of all our worship

“You are holy, great and mighty”
“All glory, honor, power is Yours”

Revelation 15:1-4

Holy: Set apart
God is perfectly good, and completely without sin

This holy God (who is perfectly good and completely without sin) chooses to love us (who are not good and full of sin)

“I’m so unworthy, but still You love me”

2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Two questions:

Why do you come here on Sunday mornings?

Do you believe that God loves you?
